This toolkit serves as a wonderful opportunity for school nurses to increase their knowledge about healthy lifestyles and promoting healthy weight. The iAmHealthy team assisted in the development and overview of the Toolkit for School Nurses.

MyPlate is a reminder to find your healthy eating style and build it throughout your lifetime. Eating healthy is a journey shaped by many factors, including our stage of life, situations, preferences, access to food, culture, traditions, and the personal decisions we make over time. All your food and beverage choices count. MyPlate offers ideas and tips to help you create a healthier eating style that meets your individual needs and improves your health.

Dedicated to the health of all children, the American Academy of Pediatrics’ site healthychildren.org is full of tips and information about your child and all their stages of life. Check out the Healthy Living section for info on topics such as nutrition, fitness, and more!

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a person's weight in kilograms divided by the square of height in meters, but BMI in children is a little more complex and is expressed as a percentile. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has provided an excellent explanation of how BMI is calculated in children and what your child’s BMI percentile may indicate.

GoNoodle is all about getting kids moving with screen time parents can feel good about. GoNoodle’s videos are designed to get kids up and moving (every time!) and they also have simple mindfulness and yoga activities to help kids chill out. GoNoodle makes movement and mindfulness an integral part of the day, at school and at home. Check out their free app, or visit the website to join the movement!

SparkRecipes is part of SparkPeople.com, whose mission is to SPARK millions of people to live healthier, happier lives. The site's tools, trackers, and community allow members to set and reach their healthy living goals while still having fun and enjoying life. Check out their website or free app for access to almost 500,000 delicious recipes, including menu makeovers. Plus, their recipe calculator has the calories, fat, and nutrition info for it all!

Addressing Diabetes Factors in Elementary School Children Through School and Community Partnerships

This resource, published in August 2019, highlights ways health centers can enhance efforts to perform appropriate screening, prevention, and management of elementary-aged children with obesity and other pre-diabetic indicators through school partnerships. This resource was published in collaboration between the National Nurse-Led Care Consortium and the School-Based Health Alliance.
